This heirloom corn variety is well suited to growing in New Zealand, especially in places where modern sweet corn cultivars are more tricky. Corn is well-known to be high in antioxidants - and purple corn is higher still due to the presence of Anthocyanin (which gives the purple colour)

The kernels are a very deep purple, almost black and the taste is superior and more sophisticated than modern commercially produced sweetcorn. Suitable for fermented corn beer - quite straightforward to home brew or just eaten normally, quite a gourmet corn to have in your garden.
